FAQs

Get all the answers to your frequently asked questions about nutrition counselling and supervision with Optimal Intake.

Where are you located?

The rooms for Optimal Intake are located at 193 South Terrace, South Fremantle.

Once you arrive at the building, please enter the building through the front door and relax in the waiting room, which is the room on the left as you enter.

If you are coming by car, you will find ample street parking around the surrounding side streets.

Please be aware the surrounding streets have a 2-hour parking limit (non-metered).

If you are attending via public transport, please consider the Fremantle Line (trains) and/or the following buses, 531, 532, 548 and 998, that service South Terrace.

The goal of our initial 50 minute session is to get to know each other and see if we are the right fit.

During this session, you’ll have the opportunity to set the scene and you might like to contemplate your current challenges. You can expect that I’ll ask you questions about yourself so that we can set goals and develop a treatment plan.

Feel free to prepare notes ahead of the appointment; doing so may jog your memory about crucial details and assist you in formulating questions you wish to address.

Subsequent sessions are 50 minutes long and focus on achieving the goals you have set.

We’ll talk about what’s going well, and what’s not going well and how to help you continue the recovery pathway.

A GP referral is not required to work together.

If you would like to access Medicare rebates for your sessions, you will need to see your GP who will assess your eligibility for an Eating Disorder Plan (EDP) or a Chronic Disease management plan. We can discuss this further at your initial session.

You can book for an in-clinic session on the following days and times:

You wouldn’t be the first person to find taking that initial step daunting or overwhelming. Making an appointment with a dietitian can be tough for various reasons: the belief that “things aren’t really that bad, and others have it worse,” or the discomfort of opening up and being vulnerable.

I understand the distress you’re going through, and you deserve support. If you’d like to have a chat before making a booking, please send me a note, and I will arrange a time for you.

I understand that some clients are very nervous and uncomfortable about coming to a new place. I can reassure you that 193 South Terrace is a beautiful and very peaceful building with limited distractions and noise. You can enter through the front door and the waiting room (on the left) is usually very quiet.
